There are numerous associations in the sphere of higher education. They are concerned with coordination and cooperation within higher education at a European, national and individual institution level. The most representative associations within the scope of the Bologna Declaration are shown below.
International level
ESU European Students' Union is the umbrella organisation of 49 national unions of students from 38 countries and through these members represents over 10 million students. The aim of ESU is to represent and promote the educational, social, economic and cultural interests of students at a European level towards all relevant bodies and in particular the European Union, Council of Europe and UNESCO.
ESN Erasmus Student Network international exchange. This association mainly acts in the interests of students on local, national and international exchanges.
Swiss level
AES Association of Swiss University Students. The AES works to offer constructive solutions in the area of higher education policy. Its main aims include equal opportunities and improvement of access to studies (grants, university course fees, conditions of admission, etc.).
UNES The Union of Students in Switzerland. This association coordinates the claims of its members and participates in national and international committees. Its main aims are democratisation and equal opportunities.
